Children's information on Sportoriety
Children cannot hold accounts here.
Every Sportoriety account belongs to an adult who has confirmed they are 18 or older.
Children do not sign up, sign in, post, or message.
If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account or given us information directly, we delete it.
A parent or guardian adds the child, or claims a profile a coach started, and decides which clubs and teams to register them with.
When you add your child, we store what you enter: your child's first and last name, date of birth, sex and graduation year, along with the sports and positions you select.
As your child takes part, their coaches add records: skill assessments, practice attendance, and development plans.
Information about your child reaches Sportoriety from you, from another parent or guardian you add to your child's profile, and from a coach or club director who adds your child to their roster.
The coaches on your child's teams record attendance, positions, assessments and notes, and a club's tryout evaluators score your child at a tryout and may add a note.
A tournament your child's team enters records whether your child meets its eligibility rules, and its scorekeepers record your child's points, fouls, rebounds and assists in each game.
Another parent on the team can write your child an accolade, and Sportoriety's own staff can add to or change your child's record.
If your child's team joins a club, that club's directors can see your child's information too.
Who can see your child.
Your child's full profile is visible only to their parents and guardians, and to anyone you choose to share it with.
When you register your child with a club or team, that club's director and the coaches on that team can see the profile, because they need it to coach and to check eligibility.
Other parents on the same team see your child's first name and last initial on the roster, and nothing more.
A tournament your team enters sees the roster for eligibility and scheduling.
Nothing about a child appears on any public page. Three kinds of private link show a child's first name without signing in: the calendar feed a parent creates for their own calendar app, the calendar feed a family member the parent invited creates for theirs, each showing the children's first names to anyone the link is shared with, and a tournament's scorer's table, which shows first names and jersey numbers for the game in front of it.
We do not sell or rent anyone's information, and we do not use it to target advertising.
Companies that help us run Sportoriety.
Our hosting provider stores everything on the platform, under a signed data processing agreement.
Our payment processor (Stripe) receives the paying adult's name and payment details and a reference number for the registration, never a child's name.
Our email and text message providers receive your address or phone number and the message, never your child's information.
Our analytics provider never receives a name or an email address: it knows people by an account number, or by a random number for a visitor who is not signed in.
Some features send text to an AI service once it is turned on, such as the words a coach types to search for drills. Where that text is about a team, club or event, the names of the players on its rosters are removed before it is sent, and the service never receives a child's record.
Every company that receives information from us, and what each receives, is listed in section 4 of our Privacy Policy.
How long we keep it.
A roster entry nobody has claimed is deleted 60 days after the last invitation expires.
Once you have claimed your child, we keep their record for as long as they are on your account, so their history follows them from season to season.
When you ask us to delete it, we delete your child's profile and the records attached to it within 30 days, except for two things we keep: the consent record itself, so we can show what you agreed to and when, and our record of any registration or payment made for your child, which we keep as described next.
We keep our record of a registration or ticket payment for seven years, for tax and dispute purposes, and the card details stay with Stripe.
What you can do, at any time.
Ask us for a copy of everything we hold about your child.
Ask us to correct it.
Ask us to delete it.
Tell us to stop collecting it, which also removes your child from any team they are on.
Write to contactus@sportoriety.com from the email address on your account, and we will confirm you are the parent or guardian before we act.
We answer within 45 days.
